Unified Wireless Networks could globally replace traditional LANs and WANs in the near future, having already done so at several companies and organizations, József Tázló, Director of Technology for Cisco Systems Hungary Kft, told a sizeable audience at the BBJ’s annual Telecom Conference on Wednesday. The conference, hosted by the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal Budapest, reviewed the state of the IT market and its recent changes, covering the fixed and mobile sectors as well as regulation issues.
Asia`s Premier Communicatons Expo Opens in Singapore

Singapore - Asia`s largest information-and-communications expo opened in Singapore on Tuesday amid industry optimism and the latest innovations.
The event, featuring 2,339 exhibiting companies from 54 countries, is expected to attract more than 60,000 people.
CommunicAsia is `about convergence of thought leaders, global industry players, new technologies and services,` said Stephen Tan, chief executive of Singapore Exhibition Services.
`It`s also about creating opportunities...addressing the future and thought leadership,` Tan added.
Visitors are expected to spend more than 4.5 billion US dollars at the exhibition. The latest innovations were scheduled to be rolled out by such companies as Ericsson, NTT Docomo, LG, Lucent, Motorola, Samsung, Siemens and Sony Ericsson.
Twenty-one international pavilions were grouped according to country such as India, Thailand, China, the EU, South Korea and the US.
As the world`s fastest growing information and communication technologies` market, India is showcasing Acceltree Software, Kaveri Telecom Products, Matrix Telecom and other companies led by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council.
Research house Gartner estimates India to have an expected growth rate of 19 per cent from 2004 to 2008, with spending surpassing 54.8 billion US dollars by 2008.
Phones are in the spotlight. Motorola and Samsung are expected to unveil 3G, music and entertainment phones at the technology fair.
Samsung is showing off three phones from its `Ultra Edition,` one of which is said to be the slimmest in the world - only 6.9 millimetres thick.
NTT DoCoMo is showing off a phone which scans and recognizes the owner`s face to prevent thieves accessing its content.
Another plays music and uses static electricity on a finger, instead of a button, to fire up a song.
